A bit about me

I love what I do. Every day I see the positive impact that my work has on my clients' lives. I feel proud to dedicate my working life to a profession that is a powerful force for personal growth and social change.

Counsellors are a varied bunch. We have each found our way to the profession through different personal journeys. In my case, my career began in the world of business and commerce where I worked with people whose companies were in trouble and helped them make improvements to become more successful.

Over time I found I was drawn more towards helping the people themselves

Once I've made a decision, I'm someone who commits to it wholeheartedly and I dedicated myself to my new profession as a counsellor. After training as a psychodynamic therapist, I studied for a Master's degree in Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling and completed further training in couple counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) before becoming a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.

I love what I do! I'm passionate about my work and the long term benefits of 'talking therapies' and am committed to making a difference to my clients' lives.

I run my private practice from my comfortable home studio in the village of Markyate near St Albans and complement this with work at a private clinic in Hertfordshire

I know from my own experience that the world can be a pretty stressful place and that our daily lives can sap us emotionally and physically as we attempt to juggle our work and personal lives. It's this personal experience, combined with my first-hand knowledge of the business world and my training, which have combined to make me the counsellor I am ie. down-to-earth, forward thinking and solution focused.

I'm a firm believer in working with the 'person' and not the 'label' and this lays the foundation for the way I work

My counselling sessions don't involve you lying on a couch, looking at ink blots or answering awkward questions about your sex life! I'm a thoroughly modern practitioner and am dedicated to providing counselling in a straightforward, contemporary and relaxed setting.

BACP RegisteredSo that's a little of my story. From now on it's all about you! If you would like an informal chat about your work life, pressures at home or in your head then pick up the phone or drop me an email or text. I promise you listening ears, empathic advice and total confidentiality.
